Perfect Houseplants for Girls Who Lack a Green Thumb ...
By Eliza

I’m someone who loves having real houseplants, but I’m not very good at keeping them alive. The trick is finding plants that are super easy to take care of and that don’t require a ton of love and attention. Research says that having live plants in your space can boost wellbeing and create cleaner air. If you want to give it a try, these plants are great choices. Choose some for your home and office.

1. Peperomia

Peperomia It might have an exotic sounding name, but this plant couldn’t be easier to take care of. The plants feature leaves that have a variety of colors so they are pretty to look at too. The great thing about the peperomia is that they don’t need a ton of light so they do well in most any space. They also only need water when the soil gets dry so you won’t have to check them all the time for moisture. Perfect!

2. Chinese Evergreen

Chinese Evergreen If you’re looking for a plant that will grow fairly large, this is the one for you. It can get up to three feet tall and has a colorful leaf that alternates among green, silver and gray, making it great for looks. The plant will need to live in moist, but not soaked soil, but can survive in low light settings. If you live in a basement apartment or want plants in your house’s basement, this one will do quite well.

3. Grape Ivy

Grape Ivy Much like other varieties of ivy, this one will grow quite long, up to six feet in some cases. That makes it perfect for hanging from the ceiling in your house or your sunroom. The plant needs medium light levels and regular watering, but is pretty hardy and can survive if you forget for a few days here and there. It’s a really pretty plant that will add personality to any space.

4. Fiddleleaf Fig

Fiddleleaf Fig I love this kind of plant because it looks so lush and pretty. The plant has dark green, fiddle-shaped leaves that are slightly thick and really hardy. A fiddleleaf fig can grow to 15 feet tall and 5 feet around so make sure you have enough space as it gets larger. A medium to bright light will help the plant grow and you don’t have to water it unless the soil is dry to the touch. Easy!

5. Philodendron

Philodendron This has got to be one of the easiest plants to take care of. You could forget to water it for days or even weeks at a time and it would come right back once you gave it a drink. The plant can survive in even dimly lit areas and only needs water when the soil gets dry. It can trail up to 8 feet and has lovely heart-shaped leaves.

6. Zeezee Plant

Zeezee Plant That’s fun to say, isn’t it? This is a succulent that can live for very long periods of time. Because it’s a succulent, which are like a cactus in that they hold water, a zeezee plant can go extended amounts of time without water and it will do well in any kind of light. However, the zeezee plant is poisonous if eaten, so if you have pets or kids, it might not be the best choice for you.

7. Spider Plant

Spider Plant True to its name, this plant grows long, thin leaves that resemble the legs of a spider. It’s anything but creepy though because it’s very hard to kill one of these. They need water only often enough to keep the soil moist and can live in medium to bright light. Spider plants are perfect for hanging or growing in pots.
