5 Ways to Make Gardening Easier ...

I have a couple of friends who don’t like to garden because they say it takes too much time and it is a hassle. I find gardening relaxing and highly enjoyable. I think following the 5 ways to make gardening easier have helped quite a lot. See what you think!

5. Have a Co-op Garden

You might have only a few types of veggies you want to grow, but a huge space to raise them in. Offer some space to friends or neighbors so they can grow some of their own veggies. This tactic also works well when you want to grow a variety of vegetables and you know you don’t have the time it takes to care for them properly. Multiple people tending the same garden helps to divide the work and make gardening easier on everyone.

4. Do Research before Making Your Garden

Certain plants actually compliment one another. It helps to know which plants grow well beside one another before purchasing them. It’s also necessary to make sure you are buying plants appropriate for your particular climate. Some plants are perennials in one zone, but annuals in another.

3. Start Small

If this is your first time planting a garden, you might want to start off with a rather small plot. Once you get the feel for gardening and know how much time and effort it takes to create a successful one, then you can easily expand. It’s better to start small and work your way up than to do too much right at the start and have most of your plants die.

2. Don’t Buy Every Gadget Advertised

Advertisements will all tell you exactly which gardening gadgets you ‘must have’. Not all of these will make your life easier. Some are a complete waste of money and end up breaking the first time they are used. Stick to the basics; hoe, rake, shovel, trowel, and a garden hose.

1. Store All Your Gardening Tools in One Location

Eliminating the need to hunt down your gardening tools will save a lot of time. Have a central location for these items where they can easily be found, but where they will still be out of the elements. Constant exposure to the sun and rain cause most gardening tools to wear out well before they should.

Do you feel these tips would help someone who didn’t find gardening to be an easy thing? Feel free to add your own suggestions on ways gardening can be made easier.
