1

Get out Early

Just like exercising early on can help you be more productive to stay in shape, getting outside early to garden is one of the best anti-aging tricks to prevent sun damage. The hottest part of the day in most regions lies between 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. during spring and summer months. This peak point of the day is also when sun is more dangerous than in the earlier hours of the day. Get out early in your garden when you can on the weekends, and you’ll suffer less direct heat, and hopefully avoid sunburn too.

2

Find a Good SPF Lotion

There are a large variety of SPF products on the market today, but be sure you choose one that’s well suited for your skin. Buying an SPF that’s made for oily or combination skin, may dry your skin out if you have dry skin. Or, if you have oily skin, and buy an SPF for dry skin, you’ll suffer excess oil, creating breakouts, and even peeling when the sun’s rays come in contact with the product on your skin. You always want to look for an oil-free SPF preferably.

3

Try Coconut Oil

Coconut oil is pretty much a miracle worker for a variety of issues, including your skin and aging. Applying coconut oil on your skin before you head out can actually help it look more youthful, and protect it from harsh rays. Unlike other oils that would make you tan faster and create sun damage, coconut oil acts neither as a tanning oil nor a sun cream but a simple skin protectant. I rub this all over my body after I shower before I head outside, so it has time to dry and soak in.

4

Wear a Hat

Wearing a hat outside is a classic way to ward off signs of aging from the sun, and it’s a great way to keep the sun out of your eyes. Most women tend to age faster on their arms and face from sun damage. Wearing a hat, preferably one of those trendy sun hats, can really make a huge difference when combined with the steps above to protect your face.

5

Hand Care

Don’t forget about your hands when taking care of your skin either. Since they take the biggest hit from gardening, they can easily be prone to cuts, scrapes, sunburn, peeling, and more. Oh, and let’s not forget about chipped nails, which are no fun either! If you’re working with bare hands, be sure you apply that SPF cream on your hands too, but I do suggest wearing gloves if you can. Buying a glove made of quality cotton will help keep them cool, and protect them at the same time. After you’re through gardening, come back in and wash them, and spread a little coconut oil all over them to help soften them further.

Lip Care

Along with your nose peeling, your lips also tend to suffer damage from the heat too. We all know chapped lips are just no fun, and can be a real pain when you go to apply lipstick or lipgloss. Not to mention, the skin on your lips is incredibly delicate, so you want to be sure you care for it the best way possible. Use an all natural lip protectant to prevent sun damage.

7

Hydrate

This tip is simple, but one so many people neglect when gardening. Be sure you stay hydrated while you’re outside, and keep a water bottle with you at all times. Hydrating every 30 minutes or hour is one of the best anti-aging things you can do for yourself anytime, but especially when you're outdoors. The sun automatically dehydrates you, which makes you look and feel extremely tired. Not to mention, water is the best anti-aging remedy any of us have. If you want an extra boost of anti-aging Vitamin C, just add a squeeze of lemon. This also adds a more refreshing, tasty flavor too!

Gardening is a fantastic hobby anyone can do. Just be sure when you’re outdoors to protect yourself with these simple tips to prevent aging and damaging your skin. Do you have an anti-aging tricks you use while outdoors?
