I like walking outdoors and catching a whiff of an assortment of fragrances given off by my lovely flower garden. I thought I’d offer you a selection of flowers that would set your olfactory system in motion. Here are 5 good fragrant plants that will make an excellent addition to your garden this year.
I love the simple shape of each calla lily bloom. They come in plenty of colors to choose from or sometimes you can find all colors sold together in one bunch. Fragrant blooms in pastel pink, lavender, apricot, yellow, plus red or white blooms too. These lilies are also perfect for growing in a container to add some color to the patio area.
Hummingbirds and butterflies flock to these brilliantly colored plants. The blooms on this mixed bunch of plants come in light pink, red, white, and purple that might be closer to magenta at times. These plants grow best in full sun and are hardy in zones 4 thru 9.
As you can probably tell by the name of this plant, it is a favorite among butterflies. The clusters of flowers consist of hues of orange, gold, and red. Not only do butterflies find these plants attractive, but gardeners enjoy the brilliant bouquets that come from them as well. These plants like full to partial sunshine and are very drought tolerant.
I’ve always liked how honeysuckle plants covered a plain fence and attracted tons of butterflies. This particular type of honeysuckle plant will not only cover the trellis it is placed under, but it can also be used as a ground cover or for preventing erosion on steep embankments. Hummingbirds love this plant as well!
Useful as not only a ground cover, but also to attract butterflies, this creeping thyme only grows to be around 3 inches tall. It is perfect for areas where nothing else seems to grow. It also smells amazing when you walk across it. The gorgeous dark pink blossoms sit atop small clusters of evergreen leaves. This plant will grow in full sun or areas that receive partial shade too.
