7 Delightfully Easy Fruits to Grow in Containers ...

Oh, who doesn’t love cutting into a fresh, ripe tomato? I do! Since I moved from an apartment into a townhouse, I finally have a place to put fruits to grow in containers and I started with tomatoes. All you do is grab a tomato plant, plant it in a beautiful pot, put some chicken wire over it (because tomatoes are known to grow!) and wait. Soon, you’ll have a ton of tomatoes; you’ll have to share them! One note, this plant loves sunshine, to put it in a sunny place for best results.

With lemons, you need to make sure that you’re choosing a lemon tree that’s good indoors. The best? Meyer lemon trees. They produce small to medium lemons and have a huge, strong flavor to them. You want to get a big pot too, because lemons have trees, not necessarily just a small plant. One note, misting this particular tree is best, they love the water!

If you are a huge fan of apricots, but are sick of buying them from the store, why not grow some dwarf ones? This is, again, another tree, so you’ll need some room to grow it, but it’s definitely a great addition to your fruit collection! This tree does need plenty of sun and make sure that you keep it pruned too.

Mulberries are some of my favorite fruits to grow in a container. I love the scent of them, the taste and most of all the jam! These little berries are incredible to eat right off of the plant and they are very easy to grow! Just plant, water and watch the magic happen!

With the whole craze of pomegranate, have you ever wondered if you can grow this awesome fruit in a container? Well, it might be a little difficult if you don’t get the right pomegranate breed. You want to grow Punica granatum ‘nana,’ which is actually just a dwarf pomegranate! These trees typically grow about six feet, and they bloom beautifully and produce amazing fruit!

Figs are something that I love to have in the summer and spring, they are such a sweet and filling fruit that they are such a treat! Have you ever tried to grow your own fig? It’s not as hard as you think! You can actually grow it right in a container. One note, keep it pruned and make sure that in the warmer months, you put it outside for a few hours everyday to soak up some rays.

Finally, the last fruit that you can grow in a container is the amazing strawberry! I actually love super ripe strawberries, fresh picked! All you need is one of those unique strawberry planters, which have a bunch of holes and almost seem layered. Place it up and you’ll be able to pick your strawberries throughout June and July!
