5 Reasons to Have an Organic Garden ...

I used to live in a community where organic gardening was very big. It was actually odd to find any farmer that would even allow anything other than organic products to be placed on his/her garden. I learned quite a bit about organic gardening and thought I'd share some reasons with you on why it is to your advantage to decide to go green next spring, if you aren't already. Here are 5 reasons to have an organic garden.

Peace of Mind

I like knowing that I'm creating a garden space that is not only beautiful, but it is also healthy in numerous ways. I can rest well at night knowing that I'm doing what I can to make the world a better place for my family, me, and future generations.

It Reduces Landfill Waste

If you are gardening organically, then you shouldn't be contributing to the mountain of trash that comes with using lots of containers for pesticides, herbicides, insecticides, and other products for the garden.

It’s Actually Cheaper to Garden Organically

The large number of gardening products that are sold to gardeners each year really add up. Dousing your flowers and veggies with an endless supply of pesticides, insecticides, and herbicides means you are most likely spending a lot of money. Using a simple solution of dish soap and water or even some cayenne pepper and water are a cheap and effective pesticide and insecticide.

Your Veggies Will Be Safe to Eat

Using organic products or nothing at all means you will be able to munch on your veggies as soon as they are picked, instead of having to wait until they have been washed. You won't have to worry about your kids getting sick if they happen to sneak a couple of cherry tomatoes or some fresh strawberries before dinner, due to the lack of toxins on your food.

It Reduces the Number of Toxins Being Released into the Environment

Tons of fertilizers are washed away each time it rains. Most of this fertilizer ends up in water sources, either making them unsafe to drink or enhancing the production of unwanted algae. There are many harmful chemicals that end up in water sources and in foods that eventually build up in the human system. Organic products are able to decompose quickly and they aren't harmful to the environment or anything that comes into contact with them.

If you haven't given a lot of thought to organic gardening, then maybe this blog will give you enough reasons to at least thing about trying to use more organic products when you garden. If you are an organic gardener, what got you started?

Great reasons to grow organically. I cannot wait until my fiance and I get our own place so that I can start growing my own product. Already have a greenhouse in mind. :]
